Hokey Pokey by Jerry Spinelli
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Jack lives in the land of Hokey Pokey but today strange things are happening to him. Things are changing. Games that were fun and as fun as they used to be. He starts to get the urge that he must leave Hokey Pokey once night comes. Jack's friends try to think of was to keep him on Hokey Pokey but their efforts prove fruitless
Jack is growing up and moving out of childhood into adolescence, he can't stop it and Jack really doesn't want to either.
Great story about the emotional changing of a child. Mid-grade readers. I personally didn't like it all that much. It was entertaining and I am sure my children would like reading this book.
One thing I like about Jerry Spinelli is his ability to paint a picture in my mind of the book I am reading. He is also really good about evoking emotion in the reader. Even though I didn't care for the story/book it was well written.
