Peter: The Untold True Story by Christopher Daniel Mechling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
(This I bought from Amazon as an ebook)
I have been wanting to read this book since I saw the cover at the beginning of the year. I have to say I was not disappointed. This is supposed to be the real story of Peter Pan, but I am inclined to view if more as historical fiction until I do my own research on the matter. I have studied and know of feral children found and then educated into "normal" society. With and without much success, depending on the case.
This story follows Peter, from the time he is found in a forest in Germany, to his move to London, England, to live with King George's family. He becomes friend with Princess Caroline and her siblings. We watch Peter develop and experience friendship, loss, and respect from other adults and children.
I have never marked up a book like I did with this story. Having said this Peter Pan, by J. M. Barrie, is still favored over a "real life" retelling.
This book, was engaging and well written. Mr. Mechling did a great job writing this book. I will defiantly want to read more of his books.
