Book Review: Who Was Beatrix Potter

Who Was Beatrix Potter?Who Was Beatrix Potter? by Sarah Fabiny
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was one of the many children who read and loved Beatrix Potter's many stories. This was a great book for my children to read about Beatrix Potter, who she was and her life. I even learned a few new things about her.

Review: Boys and Girls Learn Differently

Boys and Girls Learn Differently: A Guide for Teachers and ParentsBoys and Girls Learn Differently: A Guide for Teachers and Parents by Michael Gurian
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I check this out of the library to listen to as I was cleaning my house. If anyone wants to get a gift for me this would be the book.

This is an easy listen, just wish I had a hard copy that I could mark up and take notes in.

Boys and girls DO NOT learn the same way and shouldn't be forced into doing so. This book opened my eyes to helping my boys preform better in a school system where that may not be possible, but here at home I can use the differences in my children to help them learn the best they can, and without the fighting.
My daughter loves school, my boys not so much. Boys and Girls are different and should be. The brains are just made different, for different life functions, education should reform to meet these needs. All Boy and All girl classes, and multi age classes are not a bad thing, and help develop the brain and learn for the children.

This is a must read for parents, teachers or school administrator

Review: Defiance by G.G. Vandagriff

Defiance (Saga of Love and War Book 3)Defiance by G.G. Vandagriff
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a free eBook copy of this book for my honest review.

WOW, I read the second in the series Exile, and loved the fast pace action, this third book didn't disappoint me either. These are Historical Fiction that follows a refugee family from Nazi occupied Austria that now live in England on the brink of Hitler's occupation of that Island. This installment specifically follows Rudy and Hannah and their lives and romance in the RAF (Royal Air Force) and WAAF.

I loved how the author told their story in a fast paced action, yet historically semi-accurate accounts of what life would have been like for the British people and refugees living there during WWII. Can't wait until the next one come out. There were some strings left untied at the end of this book.

I have a huge respect for those men and women who put their lives on the line in the defense of Europe against Hitler and his ideas.

Children's Book: Animal Motions Review

Animal MotionsAnimal Motions by Melissa Pilgrim
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I won/received this free book through the GoodReads giveaway. I have a preschooler that loves animals. This was a great book for him. This book follows a small boy getting out of bed and moving like different animals through stretching, moving, yoga poses, all before breakfast.

The pictures are bright and colorful and my children liked flipping through it. I did have to slow them down and have them participate in the movements also, the pictures were easy for them to follow without to much adult instruction. They felt better after the stretching, but I think just for exercise they will do mommies yoga and exercise videos with her.

For a group story time activity this would be better. I will have to try it in preschool. Melissa Pelgrim does have a website with lesson plans that go along with the book.
